Fairbanks

My wife and I will be taking the Celebrity Summit Cruise tour # 2 beginning on May 20.

 

It looks great--first one since our honeymoon--and that was so long ago I don't remember much...or was it because I was so busy?

 

Anyway, it ends in Fairbanks and we plan on staying a few extra nights.

 

What are the best things to see in Fairbanks and on tour from there?

 

And, the airfare is somewhat expensive back from Fairbanks (to Philly) but much cheaper from Anchorage--so..are there any trips that are one-way from Fairbanks but end up in Anchorage?

 

Similarly, we are staying three nights in Vancouver--so what should we see there?

Ask on the Alaska thread and see if you can get some answers from Budget Queen and Yukon. We liked the riverboat down the Chena for the day - touristy, but nice.

To get to Anchorage I'd take the train or see if there was a one-way car rental. That way you could stop at Denali for the night and take the bus trip into the park the next day.
