Celebrity Pandenmic Protocol

A little concerned about Celebrity pandemic protocol. I agree that all staff and passengers need to be fully vaccinated and be tested negative to board. My concern is regarding the "approved" vaccines. Sailing out of the USA the vaccines have to be approved by the FDA. The Astra Zenica is not approved by the FDA but is approved by the World Health Org.. Many Canadians and most of Europe and Great Britain have had the Astra Zenica. This vaccine was and is approved by these countries/regions.. Will Celebrity accomodate these passengers?

According to this part of their site it states travelers outside the U.S. require just a negative antigen test currently. When it comes to vaccinations it just says they have to be vaccinated so I’d assume it didn’t matter which one as long as it’s an approved one.

Other than the short-lived Broadway rejection of AZ, since corrected, there is nothing to suggest that AZ won't be accepted in the US by Celebrity or other organizations requiring vaccinations. The FDA has only delayed its decision on issuing an EUA while waiting for additional date, and is expected to approve AZ in the near future.

AZ has not even filed for an EUA from the FDA so not sure where you are getting your info on status of AZ in the US.  Latest word from AZ is that they may not even try the EUA route but instead may try going the full approval route.  AZ was originally supposed to submit their application for EUA back in late March/early April after their US trial finished, but now it is late June and no filing has occurred. Additional post market data is required as part of the EUA submission, but it certainly should have been able to have been submitted by now.

The US law for an EUA approval requires that their be an unmet medical need.  Since there is an adequate supply of vaccine from companies that already have EUA status there is an additional hurdle for gaining EUA status though the FDA has stated that it would be considered for some companies.

With the current supply in the US it does make sense for AZ to wait and go the full approval route since being declined for EUA status would dampen its acceptance elsewhere.

My bad, using now dated information. Speculation from April and May of a pending EUA fizzled out and, as you say, AZ has yet to officially submit its request for either an EUA or full approval.
