Jgarriso Posted September 17, 2021 #1 Share Posted September 17, 2021 First time to La Romana. I know in amber cove there its not possible to walk through a line of Vendors offering tours. How is La Romana setup, Is it simliar to Amber cove or more traditional where you get off the boat and have to walk through an area where they are trying to get you to go places? I always like the shopping for tours at the dock. PS. if they do offer local tours off the boat, any suggestions or advice on this port? we don't do extreme adventures, beach and site seeing. Thanks. Jgarriso Posted October 14, 2021 Author #3 Share Posted October 14, 2021 We ended up doing a Beach day through Carnival. and the beach was nice. There was a taxi area and some of the people we talked to on the ship where doing what we originally had wanted, grabbing a taxi and going to a resort. Next time i will do that myself. Not that Carnival Excursion was bad or overpriced, just like to do my own thing. As a matter of fact, i thnk that when you add the taxi the price was about the same. Depends on how good you are at haggling i guess.
LeeNHCruiser Posted November 18, 2021 #4 Share Posted November 18, 2021 Arriving in La Romana in about two hours. Wondering if anyone had any experience with grabbing a taxi off the pier to a beach for a couple of hours? We are delayed due to weather, so don't want to purchase a Carnival excursion which includes lunch, drinks, etc. We just want a couple of chairs to be able to swim in the Carribean.
