queeniemi Posted November 24, 2021 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2021 Does anyone know where you can get an antigen test before a cruise in San Juan? We’re flying in a week early and need a local location for the 48 hour required test. Thanks
Lou33 Posted November 24, 2021 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2021 The proctored self tests worked very well for us. https://store.optum.com/shop/products/abbott-binaxNOW-COVID-19-ag-at-home-test-kit-2-pack If there is a problem with the self tests, you can get tested at the pier as a backup plan for $100. We couldn't find any free rapid antigen tests in San Juan. And even if we did, we wouldn't want to deal with the inconvenience, expense, and safety issues of taking a taxi to what could be a questionable area. LisaDee Posted November 30, 2021 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2021 I agree, the proctored online antigen tests work great if your cruise line accepts them. The proctors are available 24x7 so it's super convenient. Unfortunately my next cruise is on Viking and they require a PCR test; we are traveling for a week in the USVI and PR before our cruise so I have to find a PCR testing site. For others needing a PCR test, I found this info stating that they are offered at the San Juan Airport (at a cost of $110): https://www.discoverpuertorico.com/info/travel-guidelines If anyone used the airport testing site please let me know what the turnaround time was to get your results.
