The proctored self tests worked very well for us.

If there is a problem with the self tests, you can get tested at the pier as a backup plan for $100.

We couldn't find any free rapid antigen tests in San Juan.  And even if we did, we wouldn't want to deal with the inconvenience, expense, and safety issues of taking a taxi to what could be a questionable area.

I agree, the proctored online antigen tests work great if your cruise line accepts them.  The proctors are available 24x7 so it's super convenient.

Unfortunately my next cruise is on Viking and they require a PCR test; we are traveling for a week in the USVI and PR before our cruise so I have to find a PCR testing site.  For others needing a PCR test, I found this info stating that they are offered at the San Juan Airport (at a cost of $110):

If anyone used the airport testing site please let me know what the turnaround time was to get your results.
