No guest entertainers on Sky

For those going on the Sky cruises, I just phoned P&O to see who the guest entertainers are and they've said that there will be no guests appearing, the entertainment will be done by the Sky Entertainers themselves. Will be interesting to see if the girl at P&O is correct.

Sky had guest entertainers in Jan but no more audience participation shows, which was a shame, they really add to the cruise. BUT, they had an R18 show late at night which was gross. We watched for about 5 mins, crew and passengers telling R18 jokes, but it was pornographic and not what P&O is about I reckon. I put that on my form at the end of the cruise. It was Michael and Morgans idea to run it and they said they wanted to know how it went. Are the still doing this does anybody know. I would be loath to do another cruise on a ship they were on. I just found them weird.

Hi I have been lurking around for a while trying to decide what cruise I was going to go on and finally have booked the Western Tropics Asian cruise on the Sky on 1st April. Is anyone else going on this one? Any suggestions on accommodation in Singapore? I was told by the P & O Staff that James Ibrahim was the cruise director so I wonder just how much they know when it comes to the entertainment etc. Unless of course James is back again???

Hi LHM, we're doing b2b cruises on the 25/3 to 8/4, so we will be on the ship with you:D Sandra (keepcruising) will also be on that day as well.

We're staying 3 nights at Raffles Plaza, 1 night Sentosa and 2 nights Swissotel Merchant before the cruise and 1 night when we return. We haven't yet decided what to do that 1 night. Will look into it when we get there.:p

If James is the same James that was on our 2002/03 cruises, he wasn't cruise director then but he was very good. They must have been preparing him for the job then.

How long are you in Sing before/after the cruise?

Hi Cruiselover, we arrive in Singapore on Wed night before the cruise, and fly out the Monday night after we get back - so total of 5 nights. Raffles sounds great - I thought about the Shangri La but I don't know what that is like these days - it was pretty nice a few years back when I was there.

Are you doing any of the shore tours - what is the go with these anyway - can you book them before you go?

Are you doing the Eastern side as well - that should be good. Do you get to stay on the ship when you are in Bangkok for those couple of days or do you stay in a hotel?

I will keep you posted and maybe we can arrange to meet up on the ship.

Hi LHM, yes we will be doing tours. In Langkawi like Pulau Payar at this stage, in Phuket like Phi Phi tour, in KL not sure yet and Malacca by trishaw maybe and Penang, a day at the beach and Happy hour. :D

In Bangkok you can either stay on the ship or stay in Bangkok. We're not too sure yet what we'll do. When Sarah & Aussieguy and the others going before us get back we'll read what they thought about their cruise tours and go from there

You worked out what you might be doing yet?

How many of you going?

Yeh it would be good to meet up. Keepcruising is also getting on the same day as you are.:D

Hi Cruiselover, there are just the three of us - hubby myself and 3 yr old son. Do you have children and what ages are they? How did they like the child care and did you use the babysitting? I never used the babysitting. My little man still sleeps in the afternoon too so I lost a few afternoons staying with him in the cabin. He wouldn't settle in the child care at night time either. At least this time we are on land every day, he will probably be exhausted but he might settle better in the child care at night. We are also doing the late sitting this time too for dinner.

It is good there are a few of us going -I wonder if there are any others on board that are on the 1st April trip. Maybe we can meet on the Sat or Sunday afternoon/night at one of the bars? Do they do a cruise critic get together on the ship???

LHM no you can't prebook the tours in Asia. So when you get onboard go to the Pursers office and get the forms and organized them then that way if they're popular you're already booked.:D

Hi LHM,

I've finally started to catch up on all of the threads from while I have been away. As cruiselover96 has said we are doing the b2b from 1 April to 15 April, so we will be boarding the same day as you.

We haven't yet decided on what tours we will be doing, have to start looking into that as I'm sure the time will come up very fast.

I agree we should all try and meet up on board, We met someone from here on our last cruise, I'ts good meeting the people you spend a while talking to on here, you finally get to put a face to the name.:)

The cruise staff don't organise one probably because they don't know we exist.. SNIFF SNIFF!! But I am sure if someone was to ask they would put a small notice in the Pacific Daily!

It has been suggested we should have a standard meeting for all CC's. I think the suggestion was 1:30pm on the second day in the library (with the candlestick by Professor Plum, sorry I am being silly!!).

In all seriousness we should do this. Have anyone online meet in the library (all ships have one I am sure!) at 1:30pm on the first sea day (i.e. day after you board). What does everyone think?

Cheers,

Chaz:)

Hi Keepcruising, we haven't done anything about our tours yet either but am waiting on info from P& O. Chaz that is a great idea about the CC get together on the 2nd day at 1:30. We might have to make it later on our cruise as we are on land every day. But maybe if we say a time late afternoon on the Sunday to catch up - are you on the early sitting or late sitting for dinner. If on the early sitting then maybe we can meet say at 5pm or later that night on the Sunday depending what you are doing for tours that day. I have the joy of taking my little one to the kids dinner at 5pm but maybe I can ask dh to do that duty for a change - and yes I have been informed that they are still doing kids dinner at 5pm.

LHM

we are early sitting dinner, and like you will have to take kids to kids dinner, but am happy to get together at some prearranged time.

Cruiselover96 - kerri, when do you think a good meeting time/place would be?

Sandra

Hi Sandra & LHM, getting together sounds great. We're on 2nd sitting this time. (we've always been on 1st sitting so this time thought we'd try the 2nd one:) )

What time are you boarding? Maybe before 1st dinner sitting and before the kids go off to their sitting. Someone earlier suggested the Rainbow Bar opposite the Casino, the Horizens Lounge, that's also a great spot.

What do you guys think or would you rather meet up later?

Kerri:p

Hi LHM, sorry I didn't answer this sooner, our kids are 28, 21, 18 & 16. We've only taken the 2 younger ones previously, in 2002 and 2003. They had a ball. So needless to say we didn't need the child care.:) Maybe with your little man being a bit older he might settle into the kids play ground easier this time. Hopefully he'll be so exhausted from his big days out that he crashes at night. They also have child minding services I believe for $5 per hour after 10pm and from what I've heard they are excellent.

It'll be great to meet up:D

Hi Kerri, I think we will board as early as possible after 2pm however I may have a problem with meeting up before kids dinner, because if it is like last time, I can't put my little boy into the child care until after dinner on the first night - so it might be better if we met after 5:30 if that is ok. We are on 2nd sitting for dinner too. I am hoping my little man will settle a little better this time and I think by cutting out his afternoon sleep he will be so exhausted that he will actually sleep in the child care (we can only hope). As much as I enjoyed the last cruise, I was a little restricted in the afternoons , and I mistakenly didn't use the babysitting. Mind you I lost my husband for most of the cruise as he was gone every afternoon, and disappeared to Legends after dinner. Of course it was great timing that the captains cocktail party was the same night as the grand final (not!) - I didn't live it down as I wanted to go to the cocktail party and DH missed the beginning of the footy.

Anyway I have already told DH that I am going to the Champagne Waterfall this time and hopefully having second sitting gives us a bit more time after kids dinner to relax.

Looking forward to meeting up.

Hi Kerry and Sandra, sorry I just read that Sandra was on the early sitting for dinner. Maybe I can get DH to look after my boy and I will come up to the Rainbow Lounge before kids dinner if you want to meet up - I think DH wanted to do some socialising too but hey I am sure he won't mind doing the babysitting for an hour or so, while I meet up with you.

What say we meet in horizons, the DH could come along with your son. I know my DH would like to socialize too, so we could all meet sometime before kids dinner. How does that sound, so then no one misses out.

Also LHM where are you based. I mean where are you flying from. We might even be on the same flight, and hence be boarding the same time.

Hi Keepcruising - Horizons sounds good and I guess if DH comes with my little boy and he plays up he can always take him for a walk. I don't know how long the boarding takes, but I think it starts sometime after 2 so we are going to be there as close to 2 as we can. So maybe around 4 in Horizons - what do you think?

We never got the flight cruise package as we were too late when we booked, so we are flying to Singapore on Wednesday and leaving Monday night after the cruise. I don't even know how we are getting to the ship yet - probably cabbing it. We are from the Gold Coast so will be flying in and out of Brisbane. We decided to have a few days in Singapore and do Sentosa Island and the Zoo etc. I wanted to do the high tea at Raffles as well.

When do you fly over and where are you staying in Singapore? We haven't booked our accommodation yet but have the TA looking at it for us.

Hi LHM and Sandra, 4 in the Horizens sounds great by us. LHM get your TA to have a look at Swissotel Merchant. It's reasonably priced and on the Singapore River and if memory serves me correct they also have a shuttle that takes you into town (I think!! I'll have to check that) which isn't too far to walk if you want.

Sandra when do you leave and have you booked your accomodation?
