Until you pcr and antigen test people 3 to 5 days after the cruise you don't.  Cruising would be shut down if people only knew.

Rachel Walensky of the CDC has recently stated that PCR tests can show false positives for up to 3 months after having had Covid.

My husband and I both have to test twice after any out of state vacation for our employer , if out of country it is test on arrival home and then day 6 and 10.  We have done 2 cruises this fall  and multiple trips via crowded airports in both Europe and NA and we have not had a positive test nor have we contracted Covid.
What exactly is it that people don't "know"? I'm not starting an argument, just curious as to where the recent stats on post cruise -Covid are.

In my practice we have not had any cases of post- cruise Covid. I would estimate that 95% of our cases have no idea where they were exposed. And we do ask about travel for a multitude of reasons.

We do recommend that anyone (despite full vax status ) who has pre-existing conditions that could lead to  bad outcomes not risk the exposure to the variant du jour if they have to travel via airport.

The planes have been made quite safe , airports remain Petri dishes for many, many possible infectious illnesses. We advise the same for cruise ships, casinos and very crowded indoor events . We also have given this advice every year at this time for as long as I can remember because of influenza. Same goes for those with small children and RSV outbreaks.

Most crews on ships got the single J&J.  So if they got that more than 6 months ago, it's not as effective as the double shot Pfizer and Moderna.  They all need boosters.  You do too if you got shot back over 6 months ago.   Not going to prevent you from catching the virus, but symptoms will be less and recovery seems to be quicker based on media reports.

As for people walking around with positive tests, or trying to get on board with symptoms, that's stupid on their part.

Yes- please get boosted if you plan on travel!
I didn't see the article about the Connecticut couple but their behavior was extremely irresponsible if they had any flu-like or respiratory symptoms and continued about their cruise . The symptoms of Covid are very clearly listed on the RCL sight and we had reminders in our stateroom and in the Compass daily.

Pretty sure the double masking was a HQ mandate to all ships after the outbreak on Symphony on 12/17 - the double masking started the next day throughout the ship. Like passengers, staff compliance was not universal.

Thanks for the clarification, that makes a lot more sense. I was wondering how they did that so quickly after the casino hosts got sick.

Thanks for the reply.  I wouldn’t subvert ship rules (whatever they may be), but it would be nice to hear reports on this because I doubt Royal is gonna be advertising how they quarantine people.  Obviously I have a suite booked, but luckily i have several months to go.  I personally would not cruise right now due to so much uncertainty. I suspect things will be calmed down in a few months, but then again who knows if/when another variant causes a wave of infection.

I tested positive on Explorer and was in a Grand Suite and wasn’t moved.

But this was on the last full day of the cruise. There already was quite a few cases on board. Therefore I’m not sure if i wasn’t moved because there was nowhere to move me to or it was safer to keep me in the original cabin than move me throughout the ship.

My partner tested negative but we were kept together which I think points more to the fact that there was no available space to move to.

We received a letter (in link below) to the stateroom indicating we had been moved. It may be beneficial to be move as they said in the letter our new room was stocked with ready to eat food, snacks and drinks. You can still get room service. But our first order took from memory took 1.5 hrs and we hadn’t had breakfast. But you have to somewhat plan food and drinks when quarantined.
