mcloaked Posted January 5, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 5, 2022 Does anyone know how the procedure is done in the event that a situation arises such that a passenger needs to be disembarked for a medical emergency, whether a non-Covid or a Covid related need. Does the passenger have to pay up front for all costs and then claim back on insurance, or does Saga deal directly with the insurers so that the passenger does not have to worry about paying up front? With Saga insurance included with the cruise, or an annual Saga insurance policy, it may be different to when the insurance is independent of Saga, but it would be useful to know what the process is for a passenger who is unlucky enough to need to be medically disembarked. nosapphire Posted January 5, 2022 #2 Share Posted January 5, 2022 Ask Saga directly. You may have to make two separate enquiries, one to Saga cruises to ask how they handle it, then another to Saga insurance(if you have/are considering their standalone insurance) to ask how they handle it - the two are not directly comparable. I think that with the annual insurance you may have to pay and then claim, whereas with the included insurance Saga may handle it all for you. But - as said - ask Saga directly, as a lot has changed over the years.
mcloaked Posted January 5, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted January 5, 2022 Thanks - and yes I did wonder whether your suggestion about the difference between included and annual Saga policies may apply.
nosapphire Posted January 18, 2022 #4 Share Posted January 18, 2022 When inquiring, may also be useful to ask what happens if somebody has NOT tested positive but is offloaded because they are a close contact of a positive case. There is a very interesting and informative thread on the P&O board about this.
