Croooser Posted February 11, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2022 OK, please help us think this through if you have any relevant experience, especially recent Covid era: Booked on Oceania Insignia Le Havre to NYC 08/27/22 (overnight on the ship in Le Havre on 8/27). Trying to figure out our options for transfer from precruise days in Paris to the ship. Will have 2 large rollers (not overhead size but BIGGER) plus a backpack and a large carry on bag. We are not mobility challenged and can readily handle this luggage in airports and hotels. We have previously disembarked a day early at Le Havre on a Celebrity TA to Southampton. Took a taxi to the train station in Le Havre and the train to Saint Lazare Station in Paris then taxi. Is doing this in reverse the the best bet? Am thinking and hoping that a Saturday morning train will not be so busy that we will have any trouble finding luggage space? Or is that a bad assumption? Any experience with getting a taxi at the Le Havre station? It was no problem, of course, at the ship. Private car is showing available at €315. Train looks like $US 20-25. Any opinions or comments welcome.
Rare Hlitner Posted February 11, 2022 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2022 I cannot imagine that a Saturday morning train would be a problem and we have always found room to store our luggage at the end of the cars (we take a cable luggage lock to secure such luggage to something solid on the train). As to taxis at Le Havre it is hit/miss. The last time we needed a taxi the taxi parking area was around the side of the station (exit the main doors, turn left, and then another left at the corner of the building) but they may have changed in the last three years. We have sometimes found a taxi waiting and other times had to wait (once had a local call for us). Hank 1
