Hotel near beach in FLL

Hi all!

My mom and I are sailing out of Miami on 4/24, and we decided to fly into FLL the day before to check out the beaches there. Can anyone recommend a good hotel that's very close to the beach? Also if you know of one anywhere in FLL that's a good price I'd love to know that as well. Thanks!

If you decide to go with Pelican Beach be sure to request a tower room. That's the new section. If they stick you in the old section it's just not worth staying there. http://www.pelicanbeach.com/ ;)

Keep in mind that it's a ways from the port, and unless your renting a car, transportation costs will be a drain on your budget. There isn't much to walk to and if you want to go out for dinner you'll need a cab. Otherwise it's a nice property.

Thank you.....:)

None of them seem particularly cheap, so I might as well spend a bit extra and get something nice. Did u book thru the site, and can I ask if you got a good price?

I booked through http://www.placestostay.com and got a rate of $169. They are a UK consolidator that gets "dump rates" for the US - I get my best deals there. They had seperate prices for tower and regular rooms - so you can select the towere section. It was about $20 more - but well worth it.

We stayed at the Pelican in December 05 and found the place to be excellent.

I am sure for the extra price you will enjoy it.

As for getting around try the bus it stops right outside the hotel and takes you everywhere, malls etc. Very cheap.

Only dowside to the hotel was the frosty receptionists.

Hope you enjoy.

Still looking for more hotel suggestions near the beach.......

We're sailing out of Miami, so we've got a long drive to the port anyway.

I researched Pelican beach, but all the rooms are listed by is 'ocean view, city view' etc. How do I tell which is the old and which is the new tower?

Thanks! Meg

The hotels I saw that were 'on' the beach in FLL are north of the airport, and will increase your travel time and cost to Miami. I was not that impressed with the beach in FLL either. Since you'll be heading to Miami anyway, I'd consider looking in Miami or somewhere in between. Someone mentioned Hollywood to me, and the hotel prices there are somewhat cheaper than FLL, but I don't know which hotels are on the beach
