kendall jackson Posted February 23, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2006 i went. admission to the queen mary was free today, though they did charge ten dollars for parking. i was surprised at the number of people both on the queen mary and along the waterfront. probably a few thousand. i was on the top deck of the qm, and had a great view. the qm2 received quite a welcome. skywriters wrote "welcome queen mary 2" right at noon. lots of small water craft, maybe a couple hundred. and the obligatory fire boat spray. lots of helicopters as well as the metlife and goodyear blimps. the qm2 got to within, i'd say maybe 1/3 of a mile to the stern of qm. she's quite a sight! one thing puzzled me, and that was the lack of people on the decks of the qm2. there were probably 50 or so at the bow.
