digitcallous Posted May 14, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2004 I have read many times about the confusion with lines at the checkin at Long Beach for the Pride. I understand that we are first supposed to checkin at the Queen Mary, then we are supposed to go to some other line. The confusion is that there seems to be several lines, and people often get into the wrong one. Can someone guide us through the best way to get through checkin and how to figure out which line to be in? If you can explain at which point we drop off our luggage that would also help. Thanks. SailingDoug Posted May 14, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 14, 2004 I have used the checkin at the Queen Mary. If you get there early in the Morning, Use the checkin on the back of the queen Mary, it is just for Carnaval guest. After you check in you can have breakfast or Lunch. The Main Terrimal open about 12;00 There will be a line that klyou still have to go through for Personel carry on and your fun pass ect. Don't get in the line that people are just checking in. Hope this helps. Sprit 11/17/2004 Ecstasy 06/02/03 sprit 1218/02 Holliaday 12/30/96 Dawn Sea Princees
mohavemommy Posted May 14, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 14, 2004 As you face the doors to the terminal, the right hand line is for people who did do the early check-in, and the right line is for people who did not. You can see some of my pics from my Pride cruise at my link below. jedgar Posted May 14, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2004 When I sailed out of Long Beach there were 2 lines entering the terminal. The line on the left(as you fae the terminal) was for those that had pre checked in at the QM and the other line for all others. I did sail before the fun pass began so don't if that has changed things. Also there was a Carnival rep that walked up and down the line a couple of times asking if anyone was in line for skippers club.
kajsb Posted May 14, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2004 I posted this under the topic "straight from the horse's mouth" this past week. ________________________________________________ posted 05-12-04 08:00 AM I spoke with a very helpful rep at Carnival today inquiring about the early check in at the Queen Mary. She even sent me an E-mail that provided the info on the early check in. She emphasized that this is the way the process is to work, but sometimes, there are still glitches. Anyway, here it is for all interested to review. Pre Check-In at Long Beach Cruise Terminal For guests arriving at the Long Beach Cruise Terminal early on the day of embarkation, we offer a Pre Check-In service from 9:00am to 12:00pm. . Whether arriving by air and using our motor coach or arriving by private car, the guest will give the luggage to the Porter; the customary tip for this service is $1.00 per bag. . The guest will proceed to the Queen Mary where the Queen Mary Staff will direct the guest to the Carnival Check-In Lounge. . The check-in includes submitting cruise documents, showing proof of travel documentation and issuing a credit card (if applicable) for his/her Sail & Sign Account. Guests opting to pay in cash for the Sail & Sign Account will do so on board at the Information Desk. . The guest will receive a stamped boarding pass and be advised to return to the cruise terminal at 12:00pm for the boarding procedure. The guest will have many entertainment options while waiting to board the ship (see list below). After 12:00pm, the guest may proceed to the cruise terminal for the embarkation process, but bypassing the Check-In Counter. The guest will pass through the X-ray Security Machines with his/her carry-on bags. Luggage larger than 11"x 17" will not be permitted through the security machine and must be checked-in with a curbside porter. The guest will have a "Welcome Aboard" photo taken by the Ship's Photo Staff. The photo will be on display later in the cruise for purchase. The guest will go to another area to collect his/her boarding card. . EL PR: The guest will be issued a boarding card that is used for, 1) getting on/off the ship, 2) stateroom key, and 3) Sail & Sign Account. . EC: The guest will be issued a boarding card that is used for, 1) getting on/off the ship, and 2) Sail & Sign Account. A separate plastic key will also be issued for the stateroom door. The Security Personnel will take the guest's boarding card and with the A-Pass System, will imbed a full color, digital photograph together with personal database information directly onto the boarding card. The guest at this time may proceed on board for his/her cruise. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Entertainment options in Long Beach, California he guest may take advantage of the following options: Take a guided or self-guided tour of the Queen Mary; tickets are $8.00 per person and can be purchased through the Queen Mary Staff. Eat lunch on board the Queen Mary, at his/her own expense. Complimentary Passport Shuttle Bus; runs every fifteen minutes to the following destinations. The AquaBus Water taxi takes visitors between the Queen Mary, the Pine Avenue shopping district and the Aquarium = $2.00 per person. . Pine Avenue in downtown Long Beach is the excitement mecca, with sidewalk cafes, restaurants and trendy shops. . Shoreline Village is a replica of an early California resort. This lively waterfront boardwalk, lined with jewel colored buildings is home to spec- ialty shops, souvenir stores and restaurants. . Rainbow Harbor is the centerpiece of Long Beach's waterfront, surrounded by a 2,000 foot long multi-level public esplanade that connects Shoreline Village to the Aquarium. . The Aquarium of the Pacific has three main aquariums in the facility as well as a few semi-permanent exhibits. Hours: 9:00am-6:00pm daily; Admission = Adults: $18.75; Kids 3-11: $9.95; Seniors: $14.95. sbnuggie Posted May 14, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 14, 2004 Awesome info Kajsb When I called carnival about this two days ago the lady said no such process was in place. After telling her repeatedly about cruise critic postings she put me on hold to "ask around". When she came back to me I got disconnected. Seems this whole Early embarkation process is slightly ambigous. Mohavemommy stated: "As you face the doors to the terminal, the right hand line is for people who did do the early check-in, and the right line is for people who did not. " Which right line is which ? ***** Our First Cruise: Carnival Pride 5/16/
digitcallous Posted May 14, 2004 Author #8 Share Posted May 14, 2004 Thanks for the replies, I did learn something: I cannot use the early checkin at the QM because we won't be getting into LAX until noon. I take it then that when we get to the Long Beach terminal we should get in the right hand line for checkin. DC
