casino workers

CONGRATS! Yes, I am a casino worker. However, prior to working at a casino I had no clue that their employees depend on tips to make more than the people at McDonalds. $4 an hour to start-for dealers-Surprised?

Just something to think about.

Yep....as long as I don't lose all of my money, I generously tip the dealers. Although it really made me sad that more people at the table I was at, especially those that were winning didn't...you would think that even it they were clueless, they would see that I kept giving them chips, or played a chip for them, that they would catch on....cheap people really irk me.

I thought that the dealers on the Liberty were fantastic, really friendly, and even helped clueless people out, and then those people don't offer them a tip......I hope they lost all their winnings on the slots!

My previous job was a preschool teacher. Every teacher that my children have had thru the years, has totally enjoyed her gift certificates to local grocery stores for Christmas instead of the tree ornaments or the knick knack stuff that one usually receives. I collect from the entire classroom and it was never under $100. IT wasnt required to donate but teachers DO really apppreciate this!

I have to say that most dealers I have had were tipped by me, either a portion of a big win (ok those wins are rare:rolleyes: ) or based on the amount of time I spend at the table and how successfull I was. I know its not their fault if I got bad hands but its just hard to throw a 20 at someone if you just lost 200 bucks in less than hour. I have tossed a tip after a succession of bad hands just as a good luck peace offering as well.

Seriously. What do I do if I only play slots? Do I tip the floor manager for coming by and saying "Hi"?

If you win big, its a nice gesture to offer. In Laughlin, I had them refuse the offer *shrug* once.

Hasn't the tiiping thing gone a little too far? Where does it stop? I'm a school teacher. I provide a service, yet I'm not tipped at all!!

I provide a service to my husband and i don't get tips for that either, whats up with that:eek: Oh thats right i'm on salary............lol

It's very easy to bet a small amount for the dealers, who knows they may hit a good one. Not manditory but i look at it as a small bribe;)

Only if you hit a big payout! That's what I do.

That's what I do at casinos here. I just didn't know if there was a different "etiquette" being on a cruise ship. Last year our muster instructor was a floor manager at the casino. We were right in front of him for the drill and started talking. Later he saw us in the casino, and every night after came over to say hello and stop and chat. Would that have been a case of maybe a token?

If your husband isn't giving you any tips, then you need to have better communication:rolleyes:. I give *helpful* tips to my DW all the time:D:D:D

She always has her own ideas about what is helpful or not, though.

Ok, back to the topic...
