What exactly is a cruise credit?

I know I recently got 2 cruise credits form a cruise I took in January, but exactly what is a cruise credit, and how do you use them? Sorry if this sounds stupid, but I really don't know!! :confused:

So once you get 5 cruise credits you go Platinum, 10 cruise credits you go Diamond, and 24 cruise credits you go Diamond Plus. I am correct?

Yep. Each level will give you a few more perks.
