Miami--what should we not miss?

We are leaving 3/5 on the Spirit, and we'll be in Miami from 9-8 on Wednesday. We have friends there, and they are planning to pick us up and take us around. What should we do while we are there? We have kids 10 and 6, and we will be spending one day at the beach in Great Stirrup Cay already.

 

Also--can our friends drive right out to the ship? I know they stop you at the gate before you get out to the dock. Will they let them drive through to pick us up or should we walk down the pier past the gate or meet them somewhere or something?

Me and Adamsmom have the same question. Our family will be there for 2 days before our cruise sails. What should we not miss in Miami? Which are the best beaches and why? Best restaurants?

 

Keep in mind my hubby and I are 41 & 42, and we will have kids ages 17, 15 and 12 along as well.
