Land/Cruise package

My husband and I are taking the 11-Day Fairbanks Denali Express that starts on August 26th.  This is our first time dealing with NCL and we have some questions.  Perhaps we made a mistake by taking the free flight for second person.  We have been reading horror stories about this option so thought we would try to have them fly us in a day  early for the land part.  Speaking the the NCL rep yesterday, she said we didn't qualify for that because we were already flying in 3 days early.  I tried to explain to her that yes would be arriving  3 days before the cruise but that the land tour was first.  Not sure if she wasn't used to dealing with combination Land/cruises.  From the flights I have seen from our area , most fly into Fairbanks late afternoon or evening on what would be the first day of the land part - that is if there are no problems with the flights.  Anyone have any insight?
