Has anyone stayed in FLL on Boat Show Weekend?

Boat Show weekend is Oct 28. Had a hard time getting a hotel as they were all booked up for the boat show. Couldn't get in at Holiday Inn Express so are staying at Extended Stay America on TrentS' recommendation. This hotel does not have shuttle from hotel to pier. I'm not sure if it does from airport to hotel? Does anyone know this? My other question is -- since it is a very busy weekend in the area -- will we have a hard time getting a cab to come pick us up to take us to the pier? Should we start calling hours before we want to be there? Has anyone stayed in FLL on boat show weekend and could they tell us about their experience with cabs, etc? Thanks!
