Virgin Voyages - Share the Love - Sailor Loot

I've noticed two issues with this promo.

1. During checkout it only shows 50$ credit instead of 200$

2. Those with multiple bookings are generating different URLs but the target page is the wrong itinerary!

 

On that second point, having taken a look under the hood I see what's going wrong. Each booking has its own referral code. This is used correctly. However it seems to use the first itinerary's package and voyage number (interestingly the package number is the last 4 characters of the voyage number) are incorrectly used every time! These values are sent to a URL shorter. As each attempt contains something unique to the itinerary the URLs generated are different hence why it's not just shortening to the same link. Subtly broken and only affecting small number of customers with more than one itinerary booked!

I was able to correct my links before sharing but really its down to virgin to fix both issues.

Can you please update my listing for the Sept 30 cruise as we changed cabins and the link you have on there is for the old one and doesn't work anymore. The new correct link is https://virg.in/ow2s. I am trying to get the proper link from Virgin for the other 2 and will update soon

Interesting, did you're booking reference change?

 

Re the steps to get a correct link

 

1. Visit the virg.in link from your account and find the referralCode code that is in the URL

 

2. Find the correct pkgCode and voyageCode on the "Correct Your Link" sheet of the spreadsheet shared earlier direct link

 

3. Insert the values for pkgCode, voyageCode and referralCode between the relevant `=` and `&` in the URL

4. Test that by visiting the link you see
   a. the referral code in the URL
   b. the correct departure date is shown on the page
   c. the correct itinerary is shown on the page
   d. when checking out it shows "Woop woop, referral code applied!"

 

(Probably optional) 5. Shorter the link to create your own "virg.in" url. This requires you to make a HTTP GET request with a valid Auth header from the Virgin Voyage website and with url parameter key "url" and the parameter value been the derived URL *after* been URL escaped to https://prod.virginvoyages.com/svc/bookvoyage-bff/api/shorten

 

If you don't understand what step 5 means don't worry. I put my money on the shortened links been a cosmetic/practicality thing. The magic happens with the referral code.

It had plenty of availability before today. Wondering if it has something to do with the Resilient cancellations. A few of the Valiant’s sailings in Nov no longer appear.

Oh I’ve just seen this thread and a good idea to keep all the referrals grouped together. 
 

my referral is for an Australian 5 day cruise ‘Melbourne to Hobart and Back’ not until 16 Dec next year.
