jordanaire Posted May 18, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Does anyone offer any opinions regarding a cruise aboard the "Elation"? Good? Bad? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! CedarHouseRanch Posted May 18, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2004 I'm booked on the Elation leaving next Sunday. Most everyting I've read has been positive. Embarktion is smooth. They have recently replaced a lot of the hallway carpet and the ship is decorated nice. A lot of the tarvelers on this ship are Texans who are very friendly. Only thing I've been warned about is that the common areas can be cold. Bring a light jacket or sweater. CedarHouseRanch Posted May 18, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Sorry, I'm usually just a lurker on these boards - learning as much as I can. However, with the trip less than a week away, I'm getting real excited and can't hold back. Hope to meet you on the Ship. airdale Posted May 18, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 18, 2004 My wife and I just returned a couple of week ago from an Elation cruise. You can read my review here on this board. When you go from an outside deck and back into the closed air conditioned area of the ship, my wife always remarked about the temperature difference. She would take a sweater with her to the dining room each night also. There is a large difference between the inside and outside temperature. It would sort of hit you in the face as you entered the interior of the ship. It never bothered me but I could still notice it. When we were getting back into Galveston and the weather turned cool outside then the difference was in reverse with a noticeable much warmer temperature when entering back inside the ship. You will love the ship. Be sure to try the pizza even if it not one of your favorite foods. The crust is so light and tasty and I just loved it. The mushroom and goat cheese (sort of along the lines of blue cheese in taste) was my favorite. Elation - April 2004
aggieastrosfan Posted May 18, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Some observations I've been able to make about the Elation in general - Pros: -Waitstaff in the dining rooms is FANTASTIC. -While still only Fantasy class, this ship is newer than the Destiny (Elation first sailed in '98), so besides the obvious carpet wear and tear (which I noticed they were replacing a couple of weeks ago on our 5/2 trip), it's in pretty good shape. -PIZZA, PIZZA, PIZZA! Do try this. And the french fries, too! -Dirt Poets - great band! -Comedy shows were great, especially Kenny Thomas. Hilarious. -Overall, staff was great. They were always willing to share their stories. -I'm a casino girl, and I had a blast at the craps table. Not just from winning, but the dealers that worked that table were just fun! Cons: -Pool Band. Just terrible, they made me want to go inside. Thankfully, they only play for a few hours a day. -It was COLD inside! I brought a lot of cute summer dresses to wear at dinner, and had to change into jeans after dinner most nights because it was too cold . -Cabin stewards are certainly efficient and do their job well, but they just don't seem to go above and beyond like they used to. I've got a review on the board as well (Elation Review 5/2), and the link to my pictures is below. Bottom line - go for it, it's great! Ecstasy awaits...12/4/04 Holiday 12/00 - Baja Elation 05/02 - Mexican Riviera Elation 05/04 - W. Carribbean Ecstasy 12/04 - W. Carribbean See my pictures!
