MSC in Mediterranean in January?

Greetings!  While this isn't specific to MSC we are looking at doing a Western Med leaving Rome in January of 2023.  We have done this approximate route in the summer and fall, but never winter.  I know it will be chilly and the days will have less daylight.

Can anyone who has done this comment on what it's like?  To note it is significantly less expensive than, say, high season but I'm wondering if it will be "meh" vs longer days and later sunsets in the summer.

I’ve done December. On ship we mostly stayed indoors. Keep in mind the newer MSC ships generally have a nice indoor pool area. In port, we put on light jackets and had a great time.

Earlier sunsets? Honestly didn’t notice or think anything of it.

Differences I found between Summer and Winter cruises on the same ship:

In Winter, the dining times were earlier.

There were, obviously, no deck parties. Overall the atmosphere was less lively.

The evenings/nights finished earlier.
