OnlineMom Posted February 28, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2006 Do all balconies on the Caribe level have the option of "opening up" to the balcony next to them? We're considering our next cruise (first one is in less than 3 weeks!) and are thinking about booking 2 balcony cabins next to each other (we'd want to keep open the balcony separator) instead of a mini-suite. fnewman Posted February 28, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2006 I haven't inspected each and every one, but from my general experience it appears that all the partitions do open (but it is just the width of a 'door'). In fact, they cleaning crew sometimes opens them all during port stops, etc. to do a general outside cleaning - it is the only practical way to do it. Otherwise, they would have to enter through each cabin. If you want yours opened, just ask you cabin steward.
Druke I Posted February 28, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2006 I believe there are a few that do not open - adjacent to the fire doors that divide the ship into zones.
Pam in CA Posted February 28, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 28, 2006 Keep in mind that only half of the divider opens -- it's not a full opening -- but it still is nice to be able to go from one to the other without having to go out through the hallway. Mork & Mindy Posted February 28, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2006 Hi we have recently been to Asia and Australasia on the Diamond- we travelled with 2 friends and did exactly what you are planning. It makes a lot of difference to the outside space you feel you have. The cabins on Caribe deck seem to be bigger than those on Baja at the same grade. All you need to do is ask your room steward to open it up for you when you arrive. Enjoy
OnlineMom Posted February 28, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted February 28, 2006 Thanks so much! I hope to stay in a mini-suite someday but 2 balcony cabins should work out nicely for us. (Having 2 potties/showers is what sold me on the idea.) Our children are young (they'll be just 6 and 7 when we take this next trip I'm planning) so my hubby will be in one room with one of them and I'll be in the other with kiddo #2. I priced the trip both ways (1 mini-suite vs. 2 balcony cabins) and they were almost identical in cost. I appreciate the feedback!
