1st cruise Question: Can you pay cash as you go?

Hi all - first time cruiser. I've already gone through the on-line check in, printed out my Set Sail Pass and said no to all charging priviledges for any of my family's Sea Pass cards. (We don't plan on buying / spending much on the cruise, and would like to avoid all risk erroneous charges to our cabin.)

Having done that....

Can I pay cash at Johnny Rockets?

Can my kids use money to get tokens for the arcade?

and so on.

Thanks in advance!

Cathy

We open our seapass account with a credit card, then pay it off in cash on the last full day. Sometimes, we open the account, then put the intended $ on the account, so we don't have to worry about the cash in the cabin (if we don't have a safe).

Give your kids an allowance and make them stick to it. You are able to check the balance on your account at any time.

It's a cashless system. Everything is purchased through the cards.

On the Voyager, you can use cash in the arcade to put arcade credits on your kids' seapass cards. They have to swipe their seapass cards to play the games. When the arcade credits are used up, the card won't work any longer on games. You have to recharge their seapass card with either cash or their/your seapass card.

The only other things you can use cash for on the ship are in the casino and for tipping.

For example, if you buy pictures, drinks, anything in any of the shops, book an excursion, eat at JR's or Portofino's or Ben & Jerry's or use the internet, you HAVE to use your seapass card.

We always use the "pay for seapass account w/cash" option. Every day or every other day we go to the pursers desk and either pay off what's on our seapass or put money on it in advance. When we were on the Grandeur a month ago we just put $200 cash in our account when we got onboard and paid as we went!

Despite the wacky threads about errant $1700 charges; I have rarely (if ever) seen any erroneous charges on my seapass bills in 15 cruises. So you probably needn't worry about mistakes on the seapass account.

I also pay with cash (and usually spend a nominal amount on board); but I open the acct with a cc and then put down $100 or so on the first sea day. Then I check my account during the week (just ask for a printout at the purser's desk)
