I read in the paper today that a Passenger's Bill of Rights was being published by the U.S. government. It's available in PDF form from this Department of Transportation website.

There aren't any new laws or regulations, but this document does clarify for an average person what rights s/he has when flying in the USA. It's something we can print out and carry with us.

I have written to an airline when I was treated poorly once entirely due to my invisible disability. Only when I threatened to report it via the official mechanism for violating the Air Carrier Access Act--a submission to the airline's Complaint Resolution Official (CRO)--was my complaint taken seriously. As I told that airline: my only request was for the flight attendant to be educated to protect the next person from being denied their rights and made to feel ashamed and humiliated.

I wish I didn't need to be educated on this topic, but I am glad that I had the resources to get a resolution.
