included dining room meals on Joy

In the 3 main dining rooms. Taste, Savor & Manhattan room. Do you get to choose which venue you eat in?  

Also, do you know if they can accommodate a very picky 16yo athlete who likes very plain basic food like, grilled chicken, pasta, salads, steamed veggies, Salmon.  Basically likes very simple flavors, no heavy sauces or overly seasoned foods?

What about iced tea is that an extra charge?

Yes you have a choice. Yes they will accommodate special requests. Iced tea is included. The only drinks with an up charge are alcoholic, or soda.

You can eat at any of the 3 restaurants you mentioned. You can eat at the same one every night or rotate, it's up to you. The menu is the same in all the main dining rooms every night so you'll get the same food regardless of where you sit.

 

They can definitely accommodate any kind of diet.

Contact NCL Special Needs at least 30 days before scheduled embarkation (recommended to give the ship advance notice) on meal requirements, picky ones & special preference and allergies, etc. - once onboard, be sure to meet with the designated contact person from F&B, and, should be just fine.  

 

Garden Cafe a/k/a - the AYCE buffet will usually have something that's edible and/or can set aside something with planning from the day before ... gallery preparing 15,000+ passenger meals daily and can't just spin on a dime without notice.  Enjoy the cruise ...
