When does bidding open for a cruise?

Hi everyone. I found a lot of posts on bids but could not figure out when the bidding starts for a cruise. We booked a TA from NY to Barcelona in April 2023 and would like to have the chance to try for an upgrade bid.

Just got the upgrade email with 110 days to go....

Usually the bidding opens once final payments are due.  At that point, anyone with a booking has committed, so they have a pretty good idea of availability.

 

I personally love being able to bid, rather than wait for the 'upgrade fairy' to call and offer something.  No matter when they call, you still have to check with your travel companions and it might be gone by the time you call back to accept.  And, people who are particular about their cabin locations or travelling in a group won't upgrade anyhow.

I also love bidding, I have been lucky to win my last 2 haven bids, granted I bid strong, but usually save at least 2k.
