Rhapsody-Children and Teen programs

Recommended Posts

Have been on the Mariner of the Seas and have seen their children and teen programs. We will be taking a cruise on the Rhapsody of the Seas in the summer. I would like to hear from anyone who have any comments about the facilities and the programs on this ship.

Thanks

We were on the Rhapsody last fall (10/30/05 sailing). We have a 4-year old and a 6-year old. The kids program was great and I loved the counselors. They had several special activities for Halloween and my kids loved going. This is an older ship and the kids facilities are very small!! It was great for an off-season cruise. I think there were only 6 or 7 kids in the 3-5 year old group. Great size and lots of attention from the counselors. All counselors on RCCL are required to have college degrees and prior experience. They really are fantastic. THey also had great names. My kids had Mermaid Maura. There was also Coach Clint, SpongeRob, and Bunny Foo Foo.

Each night, the kids get their own little Cruise Compass, specific for their age group. I was very impressed at how well planned their days are and the different themes. Really helped my kids decide when they wanted "camp" time and when they wanted family time.

After the cruise in the Houston airport, we ran into one of the counselors (Coach Clint). He was at the end of his contract and was taking some time off before returning to a different ship as a personal trainer (apparently a much easier job). I specifically asked him about in-season cruises with more kids and he said that at times you could barely walk through the room due to overcrowding. It really is small and I can't bein to imagine how they would cram a lot of kids in during a school break. Our next cruise will be on the Navigator. Sounds like it has one of the largest kids factility in the fleet, so I am excited about that, plus, we're going off-season again (April) and it shouldn't be nearly as crowded.

Hope this helps.
