My granddaughter is going on a Carnival cruise for her honeymoon. Can she carry on   bottle of wine, or has this perk gone by the cost cutting wayside?

She can carry on one bottle of wine per person, or two bottles per stateroom (if there will be two people in the stateroom for this honeymoon)🤔

Yes, bringing wine or champagne onboard during embarkation is allowed. One 750-ml bottle per person, in the carryon. 
If they want to drink it in the MDR, a corkage fee will be incurred. 
If they prefer to drink the wine in their cabin, the fee is not incurred. They just need to bring a wine opener. They may ask their stateroom attendant for wine glasses to use.
