Mykonos Tender Times

We'll be stopping in Mykonos on the Celebrity Beyond this Summer. Since it's a tender port I wanted to account for tender time but couldn't find how long it should be, is anyone familiar with how long the tender would be from a ship that size?

From the mooring to the village harbour is no more than 10 minutes.

But the krunch is how soon you can get on a tender.

This information a few years old, but probably still valid .............

Usually folk are advised the day before to be at a point on the ship - say the theatre or a dining room or a bar - at a certain time in the morning to collect tender tickets. These are numbered & given out in order - if you want an early tender you need to get along there 30 to 60 minutes before the advertised time.

Only one in your party needs to collect tickets (mebbe take everyone's cruise card in case you're asked).

Tickets are usually the tender number, sometimes passenger number, I don't recall which Celebrity use.

Then you can make yourselves comfortable somewhere on the ship handy to a PA speaker and listen for your number to be called to the disembarkation point.

(Some cruise lines have a different system - you go to an assigned place on the ship when you're ready to disembark, you're given a number and wait there until you're called. Works better than it sounds, but not used by Celebrity when we last sailed with them).

Those on ship's excursions get priority on tenders, so the first few won't be available.

How long before you're called depends on your tender number, the size of your ship, the numbers and sizes of the tenders, the sea-swell, and  the efficiency of the system.

Could be 20 minutes, could be two hours or longer.

There's no numbering or priorities for tenders back to the ship - you just join the line.

There are berths for 2(?) ships a mile or two from Mykono village, any others are tendered.

Don't be too sure whether you'll be tendered or berthed - things can be changed on the day.

There's now an excellent (payable) ferry shuttle from the berths to the village harbour.

Say hi to Petros for me (google "Petros, Mykonos")
