fdwt994 Posted January 8, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2023 Hello, We will be departing terminal 18 (Odyssey of the Seas) this March but first I need to return a rental car at FLL. I was thinking of dropping off my family (four people plus me) and bags at terminal 18, return the car at FLL, and then Uber / taxi my way back to the cruise terminal. We tend to travel heavy and I'm concerned about finding an Uber / Taxi that can accomodate all our baggage after we return the car. Questions- Does this sound like a good plan? Can my family enter the cruise terminal without me while I return the car? Will there be a place for my family to sit and use a restroom while waiting for me to return? Thank you! 4_canucks Posted January 8, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2023 We did exactly this a few weeks ago. Yes doable but no idea about restroom 'coz we didn't use one. Details: We had the 11:30am slot for the wellness checkpoint for Odyssey of the Seas. At around 11:15am we entered Port Everglades via 17th street, had to show ID for all 4 of us at the security booth, then drove to Terminal 18 and there were people directing us to where to drop off. We dropped off two adult daughters and all 5 pieces of luggage. The porters took our big suitcases and the girls held onto the carry ons and they sat on a bench outside the terminal building (there were benches) but they could have gone inside the terminal building, there might have been more seating inside but we didn't look . We dropped off rental car at FLL and crossed from rental car building into Terminal 1 and hailed a cab from there. By then it was noon and there was a huge jam going into Port Everglades - the taxi meter came to 18.55 by the time we were dropped off at Terminal 18 but the cab guy wanted $21 (hubby and i had no luggage!) and wanted it in cash. We will likely go this route again if we ever cruise RCI from Port Everglades. Hope this helps.

thinfool Posted January 8, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 8, 2023 Note: remember to take your personal ID with you when you return your rental. That way, if anything goes sideways, you will be able to check in and join your fellow travelers onboard. If you leave your ID with your wife and she decides to board....practice waving to the ship!
