Rocky1540 Posted May 25, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 25, 2004 Has Carnival changed their policy in the last 18 months about bringing beer on board? If anyone has done this how do you go about it if it's not allowed? Is it common for people to bring beer and wine on the ship in their luggage? Rocky Not enough time for crusin'! imatarb Posted May 25, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 25, 2004 Go ahead and put it in your checked luggage, and you shouldn't have a problem. Enjoy! jfritz126 Posted May 25, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 25, 2004 We were on the Miracle a few weeks ago and took 4 12 packs of beer and a 12 pack of coke in our checked luggage. No problem at all. The steward kept it iced for us all week. teedee Posted May 25, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 25, 2004 I've also never had a problem. Put it in my checked luggage along with a soft sided collapsable cooler. Steward's never had a problem bringing ice for the cooler, but I always give them a little extra $$ for doing so. KellyJean Posted May 25, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 25, 2004 Okay...question for those who bring the soft sided collapsible coolers....what size do you use? I assume one that holds a 12-pk would be good enough? jfritz126 Posted May 26, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 26, 2004 We use a rolling cooler as our carry on. We unpack our stuff and fill it with beer and soda and the steward ices it up. It holds more than the collapsible kind and works well as a carry on. Rocky1540 Posted May 26, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted May 26, 2004 Thanks to all for your responses!!! So none of you had a problem with anything opening up? The way they bounce them around or who knows what they do with them you would think the cans would explode...LOL I like to have a nice cold beverage in the cabin before going to dinner etc. and really don;t want to keep running up the steps to get a beer...hey I'm on vacation...I certainly don;t want to break out in a sweat..<smile> Rocky Not enough time for crusin'! KnATL Posted May 26, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 26, 2004 Yes, Miller lite in plastic, (we also bought them by the bucket) so if you pack those in your checked you can carry them round the ship and no one is the wiser!!

jfritz126 Posted May 27, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 27, 2004 Our rolling cooler is no bigger than a regular carry on. It has a handle that pulls out just like a carry on. It holds 24 cans of beer. It looks kind of like a back pack. jfritz126 Posted May 27, 2004 #14 Share Posted May 27, 2004 We bought ours at BJ's Wholesale Club but I have seen them other places. It really worked out well. I also saw a few other people with them on the Miracle. It is blue and has a handle but it also has straps on the back so you could use it as a backpack kind of cooler if you wanted to. It was only $19.99! ksu920 Posted May 27, 2004 #19 Share Posted May 27, 2004 We put two cases in our checked bags and had no problem. My advice would be to bring a soft-sided collapsible cooler as well that will fold up in your luggage. Our room steward was stingy with the ice and we had to store the beer in the buckets you purchase them in from the bar. You can imagine the mess with "sweaty" buckets, melted ice, spilling water, etc. Take a small soft cooler and don't be afraid to get your own ice from the ice machines near the buffets. It's well worth the time and effort! Have a great time!
Kenster Posted May 28, 2004 #20 Share Posted May 28, 2004 There have been plenty of reports of alcohol, other than wine, being confiscated by people trying to carry it on in hand baggage. Why risk it? Check it and be safe. Carnival Carnivale -1988 Carnival Celebration - 2001 Carnival Celebration -June 2004
