Thinking about heading to the east side and going to Mezaclitos when we come via RCI in July.  Is the sargassum unbearable?  I know it can very, just looking for others experience there during the summer months?  Also is it easy to get a taxi back to the port from there?

I wouldn’t rely on getting a taxi back without pre-arranging with driver in advance on a cruise ship day. Might be more willing to take a chance if time wasn’t important. Cell phone service can be iffy.

Impossible to forecast sargassum this far ahead but high possibility it will be present in July. I would check with a previous sailing a week before or even locals on the day. You will probably have a good idea how likely sargassum is from what you see while you are sailing.
