mana1 Posted March 8, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2006 Hi, Does anyone know where we can store a suitcase in Southampton or England? We're going to do a Eastbound trip to Southampton, travel around Europe and then do a Westbound back. Does Cunard have any service for that? Thanks so much. Kindlychap Posted March 8, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2006 Most airports have left luggage. Some railway stations do too. However, if you are thinking of storage of items that you will only want on the ferry, then why not speak to the White Star Luggage people - AKA DHL. mana1 Posted March 9, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Thanks. We'll be taking the train so I'll check the railroad stations. We'll need our luggage for the cruise back.
garycarla Posted March 9, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Many of the major stations have left baggage service. Check this link for more information. http://www.excess-baggage.com/ If you are going in and out of Southampton, it would be worth checking with the port to see if there is someplace right there to save lugging it anywhere. mufi Posted March 9, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Cunard used to be willing to store luggage aboard awaiting your return journey. Do they still offer this service? David.
Paul NH Posted March 9, 2006 #7 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Cunard used to be willing to store luggage aboard awaiting your return journey. Do they still offer this service? We are doing a round trip in April with an unusual 2 day stopover in Southampton. I asked Cunard about this very subject. If you have the same cabin, you can leave all of your belongings in it. In the case of the 2 day in-between mystery cruise the QM2 is going on, Cunard *thought* the Pursers Office had a holding area for baggage in those circumstances (getting off ship April 21, getting back on April 23 into a different cabin). If anyone knows of a holding area right there at the dock, the information would be very useful, since we do not want to be hauling our entire baggage with us for the two land days. belgiancruiser Posted March 9, 2006 #8 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Last year I arrived early in the day by train in Southampton to board the QE2 in the afternoon for my cruise. It was impossible to find a place where I could store my luggage. This is ofcourse May 2005 info. Southampton Station had no lockers. the shopping mall used to have, but closed them down. I contacted Cunard and Southampton Tourism office, but they could not help me. It was suggested to lunch in one of the better hotels, and leave my luggage temporarily there. Eventuall a friend helped me out by storing the luggage in the boot of her car....! Overnight stay is perhaps a different story. J
Rok4u2 Posted March 9, 2006 #9 Share Posted March 9, 2006 If you going over and returning on the same ship (QM2), Cunard will store your luggage ON the ship, waiting your return. This works both ways. Contact Cunard. I would never leave my luggage on shore for any length of time unless it was in the care of Cunard. I know on the QE2 this service is available but I have not been on the QM2. Best to call and ask.
