Carnival Celebration Dress

A dark suit is more appropriate, formal is evening wear. The khaki pants you describe would be perfect for casual nights :) ! No jacket is required for casual nights.

All that said, he would not be keel-hauled for wearing the sportscoat on formal night. I have my husband coordinate with me, what I'm wearing. If I'm wearing an evening dress, we would clash if he was in a sportscoat.

I agree, a dark suit would look much better on formal night. Next best would be a sport coat and tie with dark pants. Khakis are just too casual for formal night, though I doubt if they'd kick him out!

Yep with the way some dress nowadays on Carnival he might be the best dressed one in the dinningroom!

I love a navy sportcoat with charcoal grey slacks myself. Go somewhere like Marshalls-you will be able to find him a pair for under $30 I am almost sure. He would look just as good in that as a suit and if he already has a navy sportcoat you can save some money.
