enchic21 Posted March 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2006 I will be on the CB in May. Booked an excursion in St Thomas for 10:30am and one in St. Maarten for 9:00am. Is that ship time or port time? What will the ship time be vs the port time? I'm confused on how these times work! Thanks!
spider3455 Posted March 9, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Both ports are in Atlantic time, and the ship will also be in atlantic time at that time. I believe the ship moves 1 hour ahead late the second night.
enchic21 Posted March 9, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted March 9, 2006 So my excursions are going to be the same as the ship time? 2nd night of cruise or St. Maarten?
karen2cruz Posted March 9, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Every cruise we've been on, either the captain or cruise director, make announcements early in the morning, including what time the ship and port are on and when they expect us to be back on the ship. enchic21 Posted March 9, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted March 9, 2006 The ship time and port time is the same time in St. Thomas and St. Maarten? I just need to be sure in case I need to get off the ship earlier or later.

FredS Posted March 9, 2006 #7 Share Posted March 9, 2006 For any cruise be aware as to ship times, since all ship related events happen on ships time. If you have ship sponsored excursions they will happen on ships time, if you have private excursions make sure you understand whose time they are going on. Read the Patter for news on changing clocks ahead or backwards. (Have you ever found a clock on the wall somewhere in the ship?) As you leave the ship you can always ask for the correct ships time. We were in Alicante, Spain and a couple missed the ship as they read the Patter from the day before and missed the correct time for the ships sailing. They caught up in Barcelona. Captain said they gave the passports to the Port Authority so the people could have them.

cjh Posted March 9, 2006 #9 Share Posted March 9, 2006 I just got off the CB on the first night you will have a card on your pillow that tells you to set you clock ahead 1 hour before you go to sleep. On the last night at sea you will get another card on your pillow that tells you to set you clock back 1 hour before you go to sleep. When you change your watch the ship changes it's clocks and the ship and port will on the same time.
