has anyone used Captainmarvins.com to book a excurations. Is it cheaper than booking with Carnival. This will be in the grand caymans?

We booked with Captain Marvin's in Grand Cayman in 2004. He was very busy that day and we had to wait one hour past our appointed time for our tour guide. By that time my dh and the other couple with us were like--okay they are one hour late getting started--what is the guarantee that they will get us back to the ship in time? Even though they state no refunds, they did refund all our money and we skipped the tour. We missed swimming with the sting rays. Last year 2005 we went back to Grand Cayman and we booked with the ship. Had a great time! We were one of the first off the ship and we were on the last tender back to the ship. But we were worry free about missing the ship. Since it was the same island tour and swimming with the stingrays I feel sure we made the right decision the year before by choosing not to go an hour late. From what I've read here and on other boards most people love Captain Marvin's and my experience is in the minority. We had a nice day shopping instead.

We booked with Captain Marvins and had no problem at all. They did an excellent job and of course got us back to the ship on time. You can walk to their office from the tender dock too. I would highly recommend them.

I've used Captain Marvins and Nativeway. We preferred Nativeway, though either was better than Carnival (which we've also used). I believe that you'll get lots of info on the Grand Cayman board....

We used Captian Marvins on our trip last month and really enjoyed the small group and extra attention. We walked from the port to his shop, where they took over. Everyone was super nice. I bought some things in his shop and left my bag there. After the tour, the van driver was taking us straight back to the ship, but when I told him I had a bag at the shop, he called ahead, and the clerk waited after the shop had closed to be there to give me my bag. She had a baby at the baby sitter's waiting on her too, so I was really appreciative.

We recommend Captain Marvin's.

We used Capt Marvin's on our first cruise after his recommendations here. We LOVED it. The staff was awesome and very knowledgable. Small group (I think we had 15) and it is close and convenient to the ship. I am sorrry that other poster had a less than favorable experience, but I still highly recommend them.
