Hotel in Tampa, please help?

We are sailing July 16, yay! Coming in day prior, yay! But we need a hotel near the port, boo! Can anyone help me with a recommendation of a not scary hotel for a total of ten people? Thanks soooo much!

Normally I don't refer someone to another section of the board. However, there is a ton of information regarding Tampa hotels in the hotel section of this board. In fact there is a more than 20 page thread on it. Cracker Ken is the resident Tampa expert over there. Plus this thread is bound to be moved to that section anyway.

I would not recommend the Masters Inn near the tampa fairgrounds it was close to the port less than 10 minutes but we had to fight the roaches for the flat pillows!

We Stayed at the Courtyard Marriot Downtown at 102 Cass st. Its about 6 Blocks from port. They also have a van which will take you to the port area which has assorted resturants and shops. They will also take you to the port on the day of cruise departing. rate was aobut $85.00

Stay Downtown at the Hyatt, Wyndham Harbour Island, Marriott Courtyard or Marriott Harborside, In Ybor City at the Hampton Inn or Hilton Garden Inn, or just about anyplace in the Westshore area.
