stephanie76 Posted March 10, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2006 I have read posts in the past about needing magnets if you are sleeping with balcony door open. I believe they said so the ac will continue to run, any input or clarification? I will be on the miracle aft balcony 5299.
lsp Posted March 10, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2006 I never heard that one but I guess you could give it a try. Our a/c still ran with the door open. Linda Conquest 5/7/06 Liberty 9/18/05 Glory 6/04 Conquest 6/
LUPY48 Posted March 11, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 11, 2006 Don't bother with a magnet. Just off the Glory and kept the balcony door open most of the time. The a.c. kept on cranking!
stlrboo Posted March 11, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 11, 2006 I believe that is only applicable to certain ships... We were on the Triumph, and I had the magnet, but it didn't appear to do anything.. Anyone??
CruzVinnieCruz Posted March 11, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 11, 2006 The magnet is for the reed switch which on the Legend was located at the top of the door jamb. It's a round black circle in a white jamb, hard to miss. If you just open the door for a few minutes the air conditioner stays on. The only problem I can see is how to keep the door open becuse it is heavy and has a pretty strong closer on it. Some posts mention a bungee cord but the door opens toward the wall and there is nothing near it to tie it too. There's a small table and two chairs on the deck and I guess you try to prop the door open but if the sea is a little rough I imagine you will hear banging and creaking all night. Anyway good luck with it.

LUPY48 Posted March 12, 2006 #7 Share Posted March 12, 2006 I found that the black rubber wedge that the steward uses to keep the cabin door open when he's cleaning worked great.
