melika091900 Posted March 11, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 11, 2006 we went to manzanillo in Jan, and we took a cab for 12 $ to audencia beach... it was really nice.. great snorkeling, shallow calm water.. jet skis, banana boats. kayaks for rent.. also theres chairs and umbrella s you rent for like 8$ ,, and there is places to get food, and drinks, and fresh coconut,, it was very nice.. heres a pic . A charming, usually tranquil cove that divides both bays is Playa Audiencia. It was the original site of all the beach scenes from the movie "10," with Bo Derek and Dudley Moore. That was before the 5-star Hotel Sierra was built 10 years ago. The Sierra has one of the most beautiful locations in all of Manzanillo, and this beach has a variety of water sports. Free snorkeling and scuba lessons and trips area available through a local shop, Underworld Scuba, 6 blocks away. Jet skis, kayaks, boogie boards, inner tubes and banana boat rides are available on the beach. Both sides of Audiencia, near the rocks, are great for snorkeling and diving. One the north side is a seafood restaurant with prices for a plate no higher than $5. There are umbrellas, sling-back chairs and tables for rent right on the beach; just place your order at the restaurant and they'll deliver it to your selected shady spot. If you want souvenirs, or "Bo Derek mini-braids" (trensitas), visit the small tianguis market near the street entrance.Playa La Audiencia got its name from a meeting, or "audience," that Hernan Cortes' trusted right-hand man, Gonzalo de Sandoval, held with a local Indian chieftain in 1522.we had a great time, it was about 15 min from the pier... have fun... soniamarie Posted March 12, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 12, 2006 I believe that the all-inclusive resort is Karmina's Palace. We went there last year and it was ok. We just got back from our cruise and this time we tried Las Hadas (on our own) and fell in love with the place. It was the highlight of our entire trip. You pay 20-25$ per person(adult) and money is applied to food and drinks while you are there. It is such a beautiful place.
Fblack Posted March 13, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 13, 2006 Does the price include beach chairs and towels? Is there a place to change at Las Hadas?
cruisermpaul Posted March 14, 2006 #7 Share Posted March 14, 2006 Does the price include beach chairs and towels? Is there a place to change at Las Hadas? Supposedly the price does not include chairs and towels. We brought our own towels and helped ourselved to some chairs near the beach and were never questioned about it. The coupons they issue for the 25USD entrance price don't go far - a pitcher of margaritas runs 45USD. We also found that we could only get 3 beers for 100 pesos worth of coupons while 10USD bought 4 beers. Besides just relaxing at the beach or pool, there are a lot of things to do here: pool volleyball, jet skis, etc. There is also a swim up bar. Be forewarned...they don't serve cruise customers well (as far as bringing drinks) like they do their own guests. In fact they served guests all around us but would not bring us anything - even when we placed orders. We simply had to go to the bar ourselves. Take your video camera to the bar and order a CocoLoco - then film them making it. If ordering beer, buy a bucket and use USD to get the best deal. While the service was horrible and the prices high, we had the best time of our entire trip as Las Hadas...Must have been the CocoLocos! And there are plenty of places to change your clothes - in the hotel, or in the bathrooms near the pool.
