Miami Cabs

I was aware that there is no long a flat rate but was not aware that if you are picked up by a van even a minivan you will be charged a 30% surcharge. Our cab from port of Miami to the airport did have the decal.

  • A 30 percent surcharge above the taxicab meter rate is established for larger vehicles (sport utility vehicles and vans). This surcharge does not apply to wheelchair accessible vehicles providing taxicab services to wheelchair users. Vehicles authorized to charge the 30 percent surcharge shall display a 30 percent surcharge decal inside the vehicle.

Just a heads up!!

About $32 depending on the traffic.

Make sure the meter is set to 0 and if you're paying with a credit card, ask first before you get in that the card machine is working.

Correct. Ours was $33.60 to Terminal A early this year.

But don’t jump into a taxi SUV or van! Those are 30% extra.

Just be ready for a nasty look from the driver if you are paying by credit card. They'd rather get cash.

I didn't think it was very far.  Seems like a lot of money.  I haven't ridden in taxis lately so maybe prices have gone up.

I need to get some cash.  I'd prefer to pay cab with cc.  I also need cash for shuttle to and from my home airport and then for tips.
