Stavanger: Hiking Pulpit Rock On Your Own & "Express Bus"

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Looking for advice on whether anyone has hiked Pulpit Rock on their own from Stavanger?

It looks like there is now an "express bus" that takes you from downtown Stavanger to the base of the hike, instead of the Stavanger-Tau ferry to the bus.
My husband and I will be on Anthem of the Seas the end of May, and will be docked in Stavanger from 0800-1800. Because we are at the beginning of the season, this Express Bus would depart at 1000 (or 0800, but we would miss that) and leave the trail at 1600.

However, I cannot find anywhere that tells me how long this express bus ride is from the trail head to the port.

Does anyone have an idea? Or has anyone done the hike via another method?

Thank you!

According to this timetable, the bus ride is an hour, which would put you back at the Radisson hotel drop-off point around 17:00

Google Maps lists the driving time as 42 minutes, but a 16:00-17:00 trip may encounter some delays from rush hour traffic: https://goo.gl/maps/PNin5R8WWy9McLuz9
