Rare drron29 Posted May 10, 2023 Author #853 Share Posted May 10, 2023 Lirio we certainly didn't see anyone swimming. It is a National Park and fishing isn't allowed but I don't know about swimming. No time if you are on a cruise tour but You certainly can swim further down the river though. Now in a picnic area with several food and drink outlets.

Rare drron29 Posted May 10, 2023 Author #857 Share Posted May 10, 2023 The last of the National Park. Lots of stone walls that now don't seem to serve any purpose. Now going to the village of Skraden. Obviously a top weekend outing for locals.
Rare drron29 Posted May 10, 2023 Author #858 Share Posted May 10, 2023 The boats you see here go up the river to the National Park. Looking down river a large bridge that you could see from the Silver Moon at her dock. Now a walk around the village. Croatian electrical wiring.

Rare drron29 Posted May 10, 2023 Author #861 Share Posted May 10, 2023 The last of Skradin. Now back on the bus. We were meant to have some free time here but we were running late so off we went. One of the boats heading for the National Park. Bird nests. There were hundreds.
Rare drron29 Posted May 10, 2023 Author #862 Share Posted May 10, 2023 Nearly back to the ship. A bit late so up to the grill for Camembert bites and a Reuben. Coronation day so a different way to claim pool lounges. Now some views from the Moon. The bridge we saw from Skradin. And the narrow channel out of the port. Another neighbour. Finally the Saturday afternoon yacht races.
Rare drron29 Posted May 10, 2023 Author #863 Share Posted May 10, 2023 That night it was our one night in La Dame. The decorations and set up. So start with a champagne. Monopole complimentary or upgrade to Krug at $US45 a glass. A little try also to get you to go for the wine pairing. The set menu can only be done with the pairing. They then bring an amusee bouche. crabmeat and watermelon. This is often on the Atlantide menu but there the crab meat is on top of the watermelon.
Rare drron29 Posted May 10, 2023 Author #864 Share Posted May 10, 2023 For wines we went for the complimentary offers. Absolutely pointless Rojaan having the wine pairing. She was in luck as the white was Tiki. This was the red for the night. For starter Rojaan had the lobster salad. Nore lobster than the Atlantide version the only difference. I wanted to have dishes not on other menus so had the snails then the souffle entree. A lemon sorbet was then served. For mains we both had the fillet. Rojaan well done whilst mine was rare, maybe bleu. For desserts Rojaan had the crepe and I the souffle. Then petit sixes even though we don't drink coffee in the evening. Was it worth it? Well the food is better than the othere restaurants but not enough to warrant the extra cost. On the Moon and Dawn it is now too large and no real special atmosphere.
Rare drron29 Posted May 11, 2023 Author #865 Share Posted May 11, 2023 Leaving Sibernek via the narrow channel in the dark. Sunday morning finds us steaming into Zadar. Now docked. A long walkway on the pier. .

The entrance gate to the old town. And the old moat which opens into the sea.
Rare drron29 Posted May 11, 2023 Author #867 Share Posted May 11, 2023 There are several sets of walls and defences going from the first century BC and up to the 17th Century. Several wells for their water supply.

Rare drron29 Posted May 11, 2023 Author #869 Share Posted May 11, 2023 We had a great young guide who obviously wanted to promote Croatia. His brother is a Minister in the Croatian Government in charge of tourism investments. The family own the cafe seen in this and previous posts. So unlike the other groups there was an easy access to restrooms. As well it was a Sunday so there were services at all the churches. However our guide had a chat with the priest of his church and we were allowed a quick look. He then took us down the street to his families home and told us it's history as far as it's known. Thought to have been built for a prominent Venetian family but now subdivided. And the family home. They live upstairs. Then through to the courtyard.

Rare drron29 Posted May 11, 2023 Author #873 Share Posted May 11, 2023 So in the main square there were not only Roman ruins and churches but that day an International Charity run day. So the old town was really crowded. Talking to other groups their guide used this as an excuse to cut short the tour saying there were road closures plus the promenade was being used for the run. Not our guide there was a lot more that he wanted to show us. Besides it was still 3 hours until the run started.

Rare drron29 Posted May 11, 2023 Author #875 Share Posted May 11, 2023 Basically the promenade was empty. Our guide thought we should see these holes. Together with this They form a wonderful msound and light show with all the energy from nature. see here- https://www.zadar.hr/en/experience/history-culture/sea-organ-sun-salutation The music was beautiful but unfortunately you would have to wait until sunset for the light show.n If you want to hear and see the show there are plenty of uploads to You Tube. Back to he walk.
