Rare SuzieQ521 Posted April 11, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2023 Hello: We are scheduled to be in Juneau on May 22nd; both my husband and I have been before (previously did Mendenhall on our own) but this time we have our 4 year old son. Our ship is scheduled to dock at Noon. We initially booked Princess's Glacier Gardens/Mendenhall Glacier tour but are now second-guessing that decision, especially since Glacier Gardens might not be fully bloomed. We considered whale watching too but now I think dog sledding might be more entertaining for our 4 year old and something different for us. We would do one of the camp dog sledding tours (non-helicopter). Is it worth it? Any recommendations of reputable companies outside of Princess's excursions? Thanks! wolfie11 Posted April 11, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2023 There are two in Juneau, Sled Dog Discovery and Summer Sled Dog Camp. Both offer info on mushing and racing, a cart ride, and puppy-cuddling. I think the summer camp may be booked independently. You can call them and ask or fill out an online form.
Sail away MK Posted April 17, 2023 #3 Share Posted April 17, 2023 We did the summer dog sled camp with my 9 year old a few years ago and she LOVED it! I went on the cart with her and it was so much fun. Then there is all that puppy cuddling included too.
Sea-n-Ease Posted August 17, 2023 #4 Share Posted August 17, 2023 We are considering the Mendenhall Glacier & Glacier Gardens excursion in early June. Will there be much in bloom at that time?
