marcyjane Posted May 30, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2004 Has anyone done this??? Wanted to get the facts for you folks before calling Carnival, so in case some of you CC member could tell me what to ask or do. My friend and myself were going over our cruise vacation tours etc today and we were talking about if we knew we could get off a extra day to fly into New York, just to have a half day etc to see some site before leaving on our cruise. If you call and ask Carnival will they let you fly in a day early? If so is there a charge for doing this? geopa Posted May 30, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2004 If you book the hotel package thru the cruise line it should not be a problem, if using cruise air it should make things easier for their air department(one less person they have to get to NYC on the departure day)
weswas Posted May 30, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 30, 2004 We always go in a day early (to San Juan) but we book a hotel stay with it so it has never been a problem. Call it never hurts to ask!! UNTIL WE SAIL AGAIN....... Mar Posted May 30, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 30, 2004 Lately we have booked our own air, so arriving a day early is NOT a problem. A few times when we used the cruiselines air-we had to pay a per person Air Deviation Fee-not sure if that is still true or not as it was a few years ago. I could LOGICALLY come up with a number of reasons it was OK to pay ANYTHING for an extra day!!!!!

RWolver672 Posted May 31, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 31, 2004 When we did it on our Victory cruise in 2001, the air deviation fee was $35 per person. Legend Posted May 31, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 31, 2004 Yes you can do it. The cost now is $50 per person plus any additional airline fees, if any. Ask them to fax you the deviation form then fill in what you want and fax it back. They'll let you know within 48 hours what the cost will be....no problems. If you book a one night pre cruise hotel package added onto your booking then there's no deviation fee.
bethee Posted May 31, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 31, 2004 When we went to Miami from theWest Coast they automatically booked us a room and air the day before.
PINEVIEW01 Posted May 31, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 31, 2004 You have to pay a deviation fee and the air is usually higher. I purchase my own air, get a room for the night and pay less than to fly in the same day thru the cruise lines.
