How is the Vista deck 6? We will have 3 starboard balconies for the adults and 1 inside cabin for the teens on a 12 hour hold. Any other advice? We chose this cruise because of the Western Caribbean itinerary with Jamaica and Grand Cayman, but checking out a few other things before making our final decision today. Thanks in advance.

Make sure you check out what's above you and below your cabins for noise and read reviews of the ship and the specific cabins you are looking at.  A lot of good info from those that have been there, done that.

You can also google the room numbers you have selected with the word "video."  I have had good luck getting videos on rooms to see what they were like on line.

As Drazil65 said, check the deck plan!  Look for the following for deck 6 especially:

1.  Are you close to elevators - lots of traffic and noisy

2.  Is there rooms above and below you (this is the way to go, as they act as buffers).  If not, what is there, something that you might have noise issues with?

3.  Kitchen area above or below?  This can mean odors and heat from cooking (had room with cooking smells awful one time)

4.  Are you close to a central "open" area - can get noise from the lobby at night with music, etc. (even all the way to the top decks)

5.  Do you have to worry about anyone and motion sickness.  Lower and central is better for this

6.  Deck 6 on the Vista is where the movie theater is it looks like and circle C - toward the front for both.  You DO NOT want to be close to these.

7.  You also likely would not want to be above the main theater, again noise (well more the bass you will feel than the noise you will hear)

Deck 6 is of course one deck above deck 5, which is a busy noisy deck. Decks 7 & 8 have cabins above and below, so your buffered.  If you can get deck 6 aft above the Havana area cabins, you're buffered as well

There were several of the issues you mentioned so I let the 12 hour hold lapse and will start over today better informed. Thanks so much. Just an FYI…when I called Carnival yesterday to ask about one of our family member’s immigration status and what documents he would need, the cruise specialist asked me if I wanted him to look at the cruise dates and ship we were thinking about just to see how full that week is getting since it is just weeks away. I said sure! He came back with bad news that it is getting full but he found 3 balconies near each other and an inside cabin across the hall. I thought…wow, perfect! However, being a many year member of CC and reader of reviews and the forums before we travel, I asked the questions you posed…is there a cavern below or above, are we close to a kitchen or elevators, is there potential for noise and congestion…all which he answered no! He lied OR he didn’t know and didn’t understand my question. Either way, I should have checked myself, but in a rare lazy episode I booked on a 12-hour hold then went directly to CC to ask if anyone knew issues with deck 6, another lazy move. Lessons learned and I’ll do better next time. I’m hoping my experience is read by someone else being lazy today.😍

You need to weight these factors and how they might impact you.  Each of them has their own challenges and can be deal breakers depending on your requirements.  If it means getting your rooms all together it may be things you can over look.

Noise from multiple possible sources is an issue if you are a light sleeper and don't prepare (I sleep with ear plugs so it doesn't bother me).  We did have a room over the show lounge once and I couldn't hear the noise, but I could feel it while trying to sleep from the bass.  Had room directly over kitchen area one time (smelled garlic and onions cooking ALL the time).  Too close to elevators means you get the bulk of the traffic passing your door heading down the halls - and people don't think about it and can be loud.

Only you can weigh what is important to you.  Good rooms together, at a price you like versus whatever challenges might be around (can you deal with the potential for slight annoyances).

Some of the things you mention are age related. Some of us want to be nearer elevators and stairs and are ok with more foot traffic. I want to be one floor from using the stairs to get to buffet or some floor is use. 2 floors I wouldnt walk up. My sister who is hc always near a elevator. Least walking.

Something for everyone.
