Looking to dive...want to know what businesses survived in Cozumel...post hurricane...

what dive spots and shops are up and running...and offering smaller charter like tours and dives???

Just about all the dive operators are back. I would go with divewithcristina.com , and I always do. Small groups and you get to do what you want to do that day. Been diving with her for years.

We're Eagle Ray Divers fans -- http://www.eagleraydivers.com and have been using the solely since 1998. Small groups, relaxing day at sea, super friendly owners and divemasters.

 

Favorite dive -- Santa Rosa Wall, Colombia Deep, Dalilah, La Francesca, Palancar Horseshoe, etc. Well, I guess every dive in Cozumel is a favorite. What the heck am I thinking that I could actually pick one???

Santa Rosa Wall, yes, quite pretty

Colombia Deep, can be really deep, not a beginner site

Dalilah, was a great dive in December with a fast current, but lots of sand suspended in the water.

When cruising, we always go with Scuba with Alison. She's great fun, and has always been very accomodating to our schedule, when possible. She runs her own op, and has a very nice dive boat.

 

As for dive sites, the shallows are pretty beat up and even the deeper sites have some damage and sand. But the fish life is out full force - we saw more turtles than ever, huge lobsters, some good sized Groupers and in general, very healthy marine life. One of my favorites, last trip, was Palancar Bricks.

Blue Angel especially if you have snorkelers accompaning you. they can go on the boat as well. The best dive probley would be Santa Rosa wall.

I've always wanted to book a dive away from the ships excursions but have been reluctant to do so in fear of missing my ships depart time due to an unforeseen circumstance. At least I know when booked through the ships excursion you are protected from missing the ship. But I am getting tired of the same dive year after year and being treated like a novice diver.

We've used Eagle Ray Divers for snorkel trips and have always been very happy. Our last trip (two weeks ago), we had a couple of divers on board and they were extremely pleased with the service they received. They'll even call a taxi for you as you pull into the marina...nice touch. They will tailor the trip to what you're interested in doing. www.eagleraydivers.com
