La Rochelle getting off the ship

Hi Travelling from Southampton on the Anthem of the Seas on 28th May and wondered if anyone knows how easy it is to get into La Rochelle from the Cruise ship berth. Never managed to get to that port before, Rough weather or Dock strikes scuppered previous cruises.

Port Location and Facilities

Cruise ships dock at the Môle d’Escale, Atlantic Port La Rochelle, part of the large commercial dock area of La Pallice, located 6km from the centre of La Rochelle. The Sorata Cruise Terminal houses a tourist information centre and is where shuttles will depart from to drop off at the tourist information centre in the heart of La Rochelle (approximately 15-20 minutes one-way trip).

 

I have only ever been there by car and remember it chiefly for the huge yachts that never seem to leave the marina and an equally huge plateau de fruits de mer we had in a harbour restaurant.

Did it about 9 months ago on the Celebrity Silhouette.  Very easy 

 

Short trip on shuttle bus (say 15 minutes) from the ship / port to La Rochelle itself 

Lovely little town / waterfront - well worth the trip
