Use of on board credits

I have on board credits for an upcoming cruise that were given by our travel agent. Our list of “experiences” excursions and prices has come out. I would like to use the credits to prebook and pay for some excursions. Has anyone tried or done this. Hopefully I don’t have to wait to board the ship to sign up for excursions using my on board credits since they then might be sold out.

We had the same issue some time back.  Our TA checked and was told that OBCs cannot be used for paying for excursions prior to boarding.  Sort of a maddening approach but apparently that is what it is.
