Carnival Liberty June 30 - July 3, 2023

This was a birthday cruise for my husband, and my first Diamond cruise!  We have cruised on the Liberty before, and really enjoy the ship.

The Good:

Suite 7272.  Great location by the forward elevators.  Plenty of closet space, a large balcony, nice dressing area and huge balcony. Relatively quiet, only noise was from fellow cruisers in the hallways.

The Food.  I am picky but we were very happy.  Had two dinners in the steakhouse and one in the MDR.  I don't know how the Liberty manages, but the MDR is well run, the food is good and the service excellent. Shout out to Chimi at the steakhouse - she is delightful!

The Activities.  There was a ton of things to do, including production shows, trivia, music all around ship, comedy.  And kudos to CeeCee of the Fun Squad.  He made trivia fun while we were waiting for the light rain shower in Nassau to pass.

CCL.  We were running late and Carnival actually called to see if we were going to make the cruise.  Luckily, we were able to tell them that we were in the terminal.  Shortest embarkation time ever - five minutes from our car to stepping on the ship.

Diamond, finally.  Carlos from Guest Services called our cabin late Saturday morning to see if he could drop off my Diamond goodies.  A few minutes later, he was at our door with my Diamond letter and gifts.  These include a Carnival wallet, Carnival luggage tag and see through make-up type bag.

Casino.  The casino host, Yani, is the most personable host we have ever experienced.  When she learned it was DH's birthday, she sent up a box of 12 huge cookies for us to enjoy.  She also arranged our second steakhouse dinner, and checked in me with me daily.

Fellow Cruisers.  This is the most diverse cruise I have ever been on, and most everyone was friendly and upbeat.  It was great to meet so many people, some at trivia, some at the Diamond party and a lot in the casino.

The Bad and the Ugly:  This was so rare, I had to combine. LOL.

Diamond party.  While the music, food and drinks were good, the officers did not stay after being introduced.  They just left.  The cruise director, Adam (cheerio), stayed for a while and mingled.  Music stopped after 30 minutes.  But it was a Happy Half Hour, thanks to Adam and our fellow cruisers.

Debarkation.  OMG.  If you don't have a passport, be prepared.  Luckily we do, but as we walked off the ship and through the terminal, we passed hundreds of people lined up for the birth certificate check out.  With passports, we never stopped walking until it was time for facial recognition.

I-4 Traffic.  What should take under 2 hours (from Tampa) now takes three.  Learn from us and leave EARLY.

Overall, it was a fantastic cruise and reminded us of why we like small ship cruising.

Hello Lazydayz!  We are doing this cruise next month and was wondering what night is considered formal night?  We too wanted to book the steakhouse at least 1 night but didn't want to clash with the MDR formal night and is it true that there is no lobster in the MDR on this 4 day cruise?  Thanks

Sorry but I didn't even notice which was "elegant" night. We were on the three night.

Enjoy your cruise!  It is a fun ship.
