Connoisseur Pkg not worth it for celiac, right?

Hi All!

Planning 1st Alaska cruise, and actually 1st cruise since becoming celiac.  Research seems to show I'll basically be feasting on gluten free pizza at Denali Lodge so I'm trying to get confirmation that I shouldn't waste time thinking about the Connoisseur Pkg.  True?

Thx for any advice!

Chet

DW has had celiac for over five years now. We did the 17 day Escorted Connoisseur Tour in 2022 (ten days on land - all five lodges) and she had zero trouble getting excellent food she could eat. Salmon, steaks, chicken, crab, whatever. It can all be prepared at the lodges gluten-free. Just notify your escort and he or she will take care of this. Not to worry!

That is great to hear! Thank you so much for responding!!  I was starting to think nobody wanted to reply, lol.
.
So, your answer would apply to the basic pre-paid meal plans too I assume.  Having said that, since we may only have 4 days on land (probably doing 3 nights at Denali), do you think the Connoisseur is still really worth it? Do you feel restricted with time, knowing you'll need to eventually eat at a restaurant, which I believe usually require reservations??

.
Oh, unrelated to food.......do people who have the Connoisseur pkg get assigned better rooms (with view, etc)?  Just curious.
.
Thanks again!!

We felt it was worth it but ... we generally only had two dinners at each lodge. Reservations were taken care of by our escort (who was fabulous BTW) and we always got the time we requested. I had the impression that he had some kind of priority for our group. Because of the flexibility in reservation times we never felt restricted.

No evidence that the Connoisseur group got better rooms. Some lodges we had better rooms than others (Kenai Lodge was our absolute favorite with exquisite rooms that are more like cabins and outdoor dining with an unmatched view). Other members of our group kind of felt the same way.

  • Thanks 1
