We are very interested in doing the Galapagos Island trip , and we’re wondering if anybody has done the trip and their thoughts on it . Kind Regards Julie. Harboursiders Posted August 11, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2023 Mike B Landlubber posted this topic Jan. 5/23 which you may want to look at. We visited in 2016 with HAL and thoroughly enjoyed the excursion. It was one of our top highlights on all of our cruises. We are in the older age classification and it was our only chance to get to the islands. There are more in depth excursions available but if time and age are concerns then you may really want to consider this option. Have a great voyage. 1
REOVA Posted August 12, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 12, 2023 Really depends on what you expect. It will probably be a cursory experience of 1 Island which may be great if that is what you want and as posted above, we'll worth it for a particular travelers' experience. But if you are looking for in depth experience, one of the other Cruise Line's or expedition ships might be worth it. Same with going to Antarctica. It's a great experience on HAL but you won't get close to the experience you will find on other ships built for cruising that area. We like to think of HAL as the sampler platter of cruising. And if we like a particular area/port and can afford it (both financially and physically) we use another line to get more in depth.

On our HAL excursion we visited 4 islands for tours and Isla Balta for the airport. Each island provided insight into the diverse terrestrial and aquatic habitats within the Galapagos.

We know that this is only going to be a brief visit but, to get the opportunity to visit the Galapagos whilst on a cruise is a bonus . After reading your comments and looking at your photos , this has made my mind up to go for it. Kind regards Julie.
Harboursiders Posted August 12, 2023 #6 Share Posted August 12, 2023 I am glad I could help out. You will certainly enjoy yourselves on this excursion. I would recommend booking this excursion as soon as possible as it fills very rapidly. Best wishes Ron
Rare ghstudio Posted August 12, 2023 #7 Share Posted August 12, 2023 If it's the only way you'll ever get to the Galapagos, then do it.....but the galapagos are worth a separate trip on one of Celebrity's ships there.
